INSTRUCTIONS FOR TAKING MEASUREMENTS

Every dressmaker measures differently. This is the way we have found to be the best for us. They may not be done the same as other dressmakers you have used in the past.

Please follow these instructions as well as those on the Measurement Guide.

If the measurements sent are not taken this way, the fit may be off.

Tie a piece of elastic around the waist of the dancer before beginning her measurements. This provides a “reference point” for taking the measurements.
The elastic should be at the small of the back and parallel to the floor.
The "actual front bodice" length will be from this point up.
The waist seam will be lower, but I need to know where the true waist is to get the correct fit.

Have the dancer seated to measure around the bust and waist and measure again while standing. Please give me both measurements. Have her standing for the rest.

At all times she should be as straight in the back as she is while dancing.
Do not measure while she is slouching.

Check the overall dress length measurement with the toe pointed as well as standing normally.

The dancer should wear whatever she will be wearing beneath the finished dress.  The correct bra is very important to wear for the measurements.
Do not measure over regular clothes.

Please be accurate in taking the measurements, the quality of fit in
the finished garment depends on the accuracy of these measurements.

****PLEASE DO NOT ADD EASE OR ROOM TO GROW: I WILL LOOK AFTER THAT****

Many Thanks, Paddy
